ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

Aims & Activities

ActionAid UK is part of an international federation working in 45 countries. We provide support and humanitarian assistance to people living in poverty and on the margins of survival. Together we demand action at local, national and international level. We don't walk away until we've achieved lasting change.

Facts & Figures

                            ActionAid works in 45 countries across Asia, Africa and the Americas. Founded in 1972, we work with around 15 million disadvantaged people and focus on 3 main areas of work:•
1. We fight   for women’s   equal   rights   to economic opportunities,   encompassing girls’education,    livelihoods    training    for women and support for sustainable farming.

2. We also work to end all forms of violence against women and girls, which means we combat practices like child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and domestic violence – as well  as  supporting  survivors  and  seeking changes to laws.

3. We provide humanitarian relief in emergencies, putting local women in charge to  advise what their communities need and oversee the distribution  of aid, as well as working to build resilience in future disasters.
