Brief Description

There are countless carers across the country, who are quietly caring for loved ones every hour of every day with no breaks and no complaints. Mostly they just keep going despite the social isolation & financial deprivation that many suffer as a result. But sometimes carers need a break, an opportunity to recharge their batteries & a chance to think of themselves for a change, this is what we do. We support carers of all ages, from young mums & dads to older daughters & sons, whose daily lives mean dealing with terrible conditions such as dementia, autism, strokes & so many more, affecting the people that they love. Who, in many cases, have health conditions of their own to deal with, or who have others depending on them too. We cannot change their lives & we know from talking to carers that they do not consider what they do to be a burden as they are just caring for somebody they love, but sometimes they need a break for just long enough that they can recharge their batteries.

Vision & Mission

We exist to give unpaid carers, who are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, the chance to take a break and to do the sort of things that you and I take for granted. For some going to the dentist, getting a haircut or even attending family birthdays or weddings can be impossible without our help. We do this by providing short term assistance in the funding of appropriately qualified respite care for disabled, sick, elderly or terminally ill persons in order that their regular carer can be allowed to take a much needed break. In addition we purchased two caravans at Skegness and Blackpool in 2012 in order to offer free respite breaks for carers.

Aims & Activities

The Charity enables Carers to obtain a well earned break by providing an alternative Carer to act in their place whilst they have a break. Breaks can take the form of anything from enabling attendance at an evening class, a weekend break or longer. We also provide holidays in our 2 caravans.

Facts & Figures

Breaks can take the form of anything from a few hours, a weekend break or longer. Every carer is different so we do not specify what their respite should be. Some want to visit family, others simply to be able to sit down and read a book, for others it is the chance to go shopping. For younger families there are often more than one child, one who requires 24/7 support, we will fund a carer for the child so that Mum and Dad can spend quality time with the other child. We receive a lot of requests from those living with dementia too, these are often older couples, where one just needs a little bit of rest in order to carry on caring.
