Brief Description

Breakthrough Learning is an exciting new charity working with children and adults, but with a special focus on children with learning difficulties.

The aim of the charity is to help children and adults develop their thinking skills and to equip them with the learning skills they need to succeed in the rapidly changing 21st century. 

We work with children and adults to deliver direct interventions and with parents, schools, teachers and therapists to share our learning. We also work closely with universities to carry out research to generate evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach and to raise awareness of our work.

Aims & Activities

Working with schools, parents and children to develop critical thinking skills to enhance learning through intervention using a cognitive programme and games and training workshops for parents, carers, teachers and therapists.

Facts & Figures

                            We provide interventions working 1:1 or with small groups of children from pre schoolers to primary school.  Using the cognitive programme and games, the children and parents learn the critical thinking skills, strategies to help them learn more efficiently and transfer those skills to life.  In time, the learner can think about their own thinking and learn how to self regulate their emotions and behaviour.  

In addition, we offer training workshops for parents, other family members, carers, teachers and therapists to understand the approach and how to apply the skills and strategies to work with children.

We hope that in the future, we will be able to provide this work to other populations including adults and the elderly.
                            

                            Anyone can benefit from this approach and we can work with anyone that approaches our charity.  We mainly support children with learning difficulties or have problems with emotional/behavioural regulation.
