Brief Description

Seeking to bridge the gap in sustainable disability care services in Cambodia, EmbraceAbility provides tailored occupational therapy, physiotherapy and inclusive sport opportunities aimed at empowering children with disabilities and their families. Our programmes and policies promote inclusion, with a view to reducing the high levels of multidimensional poverty and deprivation among people with disabilities and their families. EmbraceAbility’s approach aims to lift the systemic barriers, negative attitudes and exclusion imposed by much of society in Cambodia.

Vision & Mission

EmbraceAbility’s vision is to work for a society in which every person is valued equally. We believe people with disabilities should have access to care, education and therapy. Our mandate is to support children with disabilities to live with dignity and independence, so that they may contribute and participate fully in an inclusive community.

Aims & Activities

EmbraceAbility’s Community Outreach Programme is our first programme to be launched on Koh Dach Island, Cambodia. Through our community outreach initiatives, we aim to increase the independence, capacity, and social participation of children with disabilities and their families. In order to achieve this aim, our objectives are:

- to provide therapy to children with disabilities and their families in the home environment
- to facilitate access to mainstream education for children with disabilities 
- to enhance the knowledge of local therapist(s) through skills development
- to conduct essential research that will further our understanding of disability issues on Koh Dach Island
- to provide educational community workshops on issues of disability 
- to provide inclusive sporting opportunities to children with disabilities
- to reduce social stigma & build inclusive communities.
